How to build a glossary of characters and terms
A glossary keeps our tool from re-describing the same recurring character or term differently every time it appears — see Personal accounts vs organizations if you’re working out whether to build the glossary at the personal or organization level, since organization glossaries are shared across the whole team.
Create a glossary
Section titled “Create a glossary”- Go to Glossaries → New glossary.
- Give the glossary a name that identifies what it covers (for example, a show title or a recurring cast).
Add an entry
Section titled “Add an entry”- Inside the glossary, select Add entry.
- Enter the character, person, or term’s name — this is what our tool will use consistently once it recognizes them.
- Enter a description — enough detail for our tool to identify and refer to them the way you want (appearance, role, or defining traits).
- If you’re on a paid plan, optionally attach a reference image so our tool can visually recognize this entry rather than relying on the text description alone. Text-only entries are available on every plan, including Free.
Repeat for every recurring character or term you want our tool to track.
Attach a glossary to a project
Section titled “Attach a glossary to a project”- When creating a video or image project, open the glossary picker on the creation form.
- Select the glossary you built.
- Submit the project as usual — see Generate and edit audio descriptions or Generate image alt text in bulk.
If you want to change which glossary is attached to an existing project, or detach one, open the project’s settings and update the glossary field there.
