How to turn on and refine captions

Turn on captions when creating a project

1. Start a new video project as described in Generate and edit audio descriptions.
2. On the creation form, turn on the Captions toggle before you submit.

Captions and audio descriptions are generated from the same project but are separate tracks — turning on captions doesn’t change how audio descriptions are written, and it doesn’t require you to also burn captions into your final export. Refine captions

If the initial captions have errors — misheard words, missing punctuation, no indication of non-speech sound — refine them from the project view.

1. Open the completed project.
2. Find the captions section and select Refine.

Refinement improves transcription accuracy and adds cues for important non-speech sound, so viewers who rely on captions don’t lose that information.
